The aim of the European provision is to inform and guide the user to the heating technology and more efficient production of ACS from an energy standpoint, in order to reduce pollutant emissions and promote sustainable development.

The most important Data about an Energy Label:
• The Energy efficiency Class
The most efficient Energy Class is A+++ and the less efficient is G and it is established, for heat pumps, according to an index of seasonal performance. The best technology available in the heat pump is already in class A ++. Today the less efficient the heat pump can not fall below the class A.
• Level of sound power
In the label of the products there are the sound power levels, external and / or internal environment compared to air-condition that can not exceed the thresholds established as a function of the thermal power machine.
• The thermal nominal power for the climate zone
The thermal nominal power is indicative of the power of the thermal requirements of the building project which the machine is able to meet and is specified for three reference climatic conditions.

Graphically the labeling are divided into 3 typologies of machine:
• Heat pump with average temperature;
• Heat pump with less temperature;
• Mixed Heat pump to heat and the production of sanitary hot water.

The heat pumps with average temperature are heat pumps that arrive to distribute 55 ° C. Those that do not reach the 55 ° C are labeled at low temperature, with temperature of 35 ° C. The labels for the average temperature pumps also report the energy efficiency class to the low temperature, then it always possible a true comparison for these two types of pumps. The mixed medium pumps are finally pumps designed to work even on hot drinking water and health. Therefore the label shows both the value for the heating and for sanitary water.

The highest efficient Class that allows to have the bigger saving in the bill is the A+++, but It will appear on the label of the individual machine only from 2019. The A+++ can be reach with the combination of a heat pump with a good system of control and it is called “Set of equipments”. Who sales these Set, has to give the related Labeling with the efficient class and every component has to have its labeling.
In the case of these sets the main parameters that appear on the label are:
• The efficiency energy class of the main generator in hot or mixed function (hot and ACS);
• The different components of the set;
• the class of the energy efficiency of the set, in hot or warm function with ACS.

Otherwise for every single product the labeling is an important element of comparison and quality, the labeling of the components is only indicative because every system is independent.


From September 2015 supplier, installer und distributors are responsible for the product, which they propose to the client.
For the suppliers, the labeling is not fixed of the machine, but it is in the packing as a paper format together with the products card. The suppliers have to give a technical documentation to value the precision of the reported data.
The distributors are required to expose adequately the labels, both for exposure and for sale.
Installers that bring into service a composed system are obliged to provide, under their own responsibility, the energy efficiency class and the energy label system proposed to the customer.
